Spring Break

We just got back from Florida last Thursday. We had a great time visiting with my Mom Grandma, & brother. The kids had a blast and so did I. We shopped, played at the beach, went to the movies, and ate out ! It was great. My Mom and Grnadma spoiled the kids and me. When we got back, I was struck with either a stomach virus or food poisioning. It was awful. I am feeling better but very tired. As soon as I am back to my old self I will post pictures!

Soccer Superstar

Chandler has started playing soccer! He loves it and plays VERY well. We really surprised at just how good he plays. He is on a team of 6 boys who played together in the fall. He loves all his team mates and plays as if he is seasoned pro (as much of pro as a 5 year can be). Chase cannot wait to play, but he will have to wait until the fall when he is 4!

Snow Day

The first weekend in March was beautiful with temperatures near 80, and then this morning we woke up to snow! Our house looked like a winter wonderland and the boys loved it! School was cancelled and we got up and dressed and headed outside. We made snowmen and snow angels. Jason went into work late and played, too! You could hear the sounds of all the children in our neighborhood playing outside. It will not last for long, Highs today will be in the mid-50's! Even though I despise cold weather, the memory of this morning will be with me forever!

It Always Happens When Jason's Out of Town...

Jason travels a lot. He usually travels a few times a month for a day or two and whenever he is gone life is CRAZY!!! He seems to always be gone every year for Valentine's and this year was no different. He left this morning for Shreveport and Murphy's Law kicked in.

First, my sweet mother sent the kids clothes from Target for Valentine's Day. I really appreciate her thoughtfulness, but everything was the wrong size. So I hightailed it up to Super Target to do some exchanging. Well they have this crazy exchange policy and without a receipt is nearly impossible to return. My dear Mother, in her infinite wisdom, sent a gift receipt. I waited in line for what seemed like an eternity because the lady in front of me did not have a receipt and argued with the Target associate for 10 minutes. I was feeling overly confident thinking I would have no problems because I had a receipt when the associate informed me one item was not on the gift receipt. I preceded to argue with her for ten minutes before I called my Mom. Long story short, we figured it out after 20 minutes of phone conversations and two trips to the bathroom. I should have know better than to stay and shop. The kids were past their limit. But no, I stayed. Kate removed her socks and shoes over and over again. I put them on, she took them off, until I finally let her barefoot. Chandler ran into a support pole in the middle of an aisle and screamed bloody murder. Now he had a bruise on his head. We got lots of looks with that one. Finally Chase hid in the pj section and I found him amongst the bras!

When we got home Kate had a present for me in her diaper. We went upstairs to change her. I pulled her pants off when I heard the door bell ring (I was expecting a contractor to drop off some paint samples), so I ran down stairs to get the door. When I got back upstairs Kate had removed her diaper. Luckily most of the poop stayed in the diaper, however she climbed up in my bed and scooted her little bottom across the sheets and comforter. I had just enough time to strip the sheets off the bed and throw them in the washer before we left for church.

Chaser fell asleep on the way home from church and that is always bad. We usually take a bath and then go to sleep at night, especially on Wed. nights because we have school the next day. I tried to carry him up strairs and put him to bed, but of course he woke up crying asking for Dad. I decided to skip the bath. Then I could not get him to go back to sleep and I still had to get all the kids stuff ready for the big Valentine's Day parties tomorrow. I was desperate so I made my bed and laid down with him in my room where he finally fell asleep.

Jason called me to say goodnight and tell me he missed me . He said he was going to bed in a nice king size bed. He was drowsy from his overeating. He bragged about how wonderful the food was at the new Cajun place he dined at with their hot rolls and shrimp. I told him about my dinner of saltines and cold soup that was warmed up at one time but cool by the time I got to eat it. I also told him about our Target expedition, Kate's diaper mess and how I was sleeping with Chaser (who always ends up sleeping sideways and kicking me). My sweet husband knows how to make everything better. He told me how much he loves me and appreciates all I do. Those simple words just melted all the days stresses away. Life is good and I am going to bed now to snuggle with my Chaser!

Pink Eye Epidemic

We have had a pink eye epidemic at our home this last week. Chandler started it all by getting pink eye last Tuesday. We thought we we're over it and Chase woke up with it on Sunday. Then Kate got it yesterday (Tuesday). I have been to the pharmacy so much they know me by name. I asked the kids to please coordinate better next time and get it all on the same day.

The Kite Runner

I just finished reading the book "The Kite Runner". I had heard good things about it here and there, but it was never in at the library. So I finally just requested it and took over 6 weeks to come in, but it was worth it.

The book is superbly written and I just felt like I knew the characters from almost the very beginning. It was a pretty easy read. I read it in about 4 days, but finished the bulk of the book in the last day. It became so intense once I hit a certain point, I could not put it down. It was powerful and moving. It even gives a bit of history about Afghanistan before and after the Taliban took over (which I had no idea was so horrible). The book is more than about history. It is about doing what is right and how our life choices make up who we are and effect those around us. It is also about forgiveness. My receommendation is that it is a must read, but be warned there are a couple of scenes that are very GRAPHIC! Happy Reading!

Chaser's Version of Guitar Hero

My sweet Chase is in speech. He has a serious articulation problem and goes to school twice a week to help. He had tubes put in both his ears about a year ago because of chronic ear infections and fluid on his ears so he has been playing catch up for the last year. I am happy to report he is making great progress, but still somethimes struggles to say things correctly.

That being said I would never laugh about his problem, but sometimes it produces the funniest moments. He makes up his own words or exchanges words for things he cannot pronounce and one of the funniest examples is from songs on guitar hero. Jason and I love to play guitar hero at night and often duel one another. The boys love to watch and even play with Mom and Dad's help. They even get their microphone and sing along. The other night Chase had us rolling when he sang, "Hit Me With Your Best Buy" (instead of "Hit Me With Your Best Shot") and "Soda" (Instead of "Slow Ride").

It was the funniest and cutest thing ever. We taped it. Maybe one day you'll see it on "You Tube" and my sweet Chaser will be an internet sensation.
